Clive Walford, TE, Miami

6'4" 251 lbs.

Current: 64/80

Potential: 70/80

Clive Walford's play in Senior Bowl practices opened eyes and has made him a hot commodity. His calling card is his ability to be a mismatch nightmare. He can line up inline, in the slot, outside in goal line situations and is a mismatch waiting to happen at each spot. He produced in all four years at Miami and will likely do so in the NFL.

He has average speed, but can get on defenders his quickly and his catch radius makes it to where he is open even when he does not have much separation. He excels out of the slot and down the seam. He shows the ability to set up his defender and get open with his cuts, but he is inconsistent in this area. There are times where he does not bend enough, leading to him rounding off his routes and showing his hand to the defender.

His biggest calling card is his catch radius. He has solid size and exceptional leaping ability and has strong hands to high point the ball. He could do some serious damage in jump ball situations in the red zone. He could work at getting better at finding holes in the defense, but shows a knack for doing so at times. He needs to get stronger at the point of attack in the run game and tends to be more of a grabber than using power. However, there are times where he flashes the ability to be a dominant inline blocker.

Walford could end up being a pro bowl tight end some day, but he needs to hone in on his craft. There are too many inconsistencies in his play which could scare some people off from investing a second round pick on him. He is not quite as big, but his skill set is similar to that of Martellus Bennett and I could see him having a similar impact. He will likely go in the second round and could provide some real value if used properly.
